In 1919, the Duke of Portland, who was a friend of my great-grandfather, having heard that the orphaned children of Archduke Francis Ferdinand had been forced to leave Konopiste, asked the Earl of Curzon, then Foreign Secretary, if he would be kind enough to enquire what the young Czechoslovak Government intended to do in this matter.
This is the answer sent to the Duke of Portland by the Foreign Office on the 2nd of August 1919.
